There are many interesting places and different things to see in Linköping and environs.
Below are links to some places worth a visit while staying in Linköping.
Old Linköping
In Old Linköping you can walk around in the sights of the old Linköping, there are several small shops and museums where you will see the old days of a Swedish town. This is an open air museum.
The Air Force Museum
The Air Force Museum in Linköping has a unique collection of military aircraft, dating from 1912 up to modern times. You can even fly the JAS 39 Gripen in our flight simulator.
For children there is Flygverkstan (the Flying Workshop) where there are lots of interesting things to do and exciting flying stories to listen to. You can even build a rocket from a PET bottle and send it up into the sky from the grassy area outside the museum building.
Kinda Canal
The Kinda Canal and its vital artificial section are part of a waterway that takes the traveller through an enchanting canal and lake system in southern Östergötland renowned for its natural beauty. The canal begins in lake Roxen and continues south through central Linköping, finally ending ninety kilometres farther south in lake Åsunden by Hycklinge/Horn in Kinda. Another way of putting it is that it covers 43 nautical miles southwards. Following the canal southwards means travelling against the current since the Stångån river is one of the few Swedish rivers that flow northwards and is navigable. We at Stångå Hotel have packages with the boat company, see under Packages under the menu.
Göta Canal
The Göta Canal was one of the largest civil engineering projects ever undertaken in Sweden. The Canal stretches from Sjötorp on Lake Vänern to Mem on the east coast. It has a length of 190 kilometres and a total of 58 locks. Of this distance, 87 kilometres are man-made. The lakes through which the Canal passes make up 103 kilometres of its length.
